A Little About Me
I’m not your average editor.
Majoring in English, freelancing as a beta reader, working my way up the ladder at a publishing house… that is so not my story. My life has taken me down an extraordinary and atypical path toward a passionate career in editing.
Wanting to become a professional storyteller, I moved to Los Angeles at 18 to attend the University of Southern California’s prestigious film school. I spent my college years composing screenplays, making no-budget movies, and writing analytical essays on everything from silent films to modern-day blockbusters. I also performed regularly around campus with my musical improv comedy troupe.
I’ve been able to make a living in the entertainment industry in a lot of different ways. I’ve written and produced web series and sitcoms. I’ve interviewed celebrities on the red carpet and reviewed Top 40 albums. I’ve written script coverage for production companies and screenplay competitions. I’ve pitched shows as a writer and been pitched to as a development exec. And I’ve created more digital content than I can remember for numerous TV series, including The Ellen DeGeneres Show, The Kelly Clarkson Show, and The Jennifer Hudson Show.
The one constant across all these different jobs has been the importance of the written word. My writing and editing skills have been at the core of every position I have held in my career.
After completing UC San Diego’s copyediting certificate program, I officially launched Becky Bain Editorial Services, combining my lifelong loves of writing, reading, humor, and screenwriting. I am happiest being surrounded by creative people who enthusiastically pursue their passions, and being able to help writers elevate their hard work is an absolute joy for me. I look forward to working with you too!

“Becky has a sharp eye for detail and knows what’s funny. Whether she’s tweaking comedic beats, giving thoughtful story notes, or adding a second set of eyes for proofreading, I know my writing is going to come out sharper and more polished once Becky has given it a look.”
