Services + Rates
Congratulations on finishing your writing project! No matter what you’ve written – be it a novel, a memoir, an article, or a screenplay – it is essential to hire a professional editor to review your work before you submit to managers, agents, production companies, or publishing houses. An editor is even more important to an author who intends to independently publish a book.
I edit fiction and non-fiction and provide a wide range of services, including copyediting, line editing, proofreading, as well as developmental editing and copyediting for screenplays. I also offer copywriting and content writing services.

Copyediting
Make sure readers have an effortless experience enjoying your story with a thorough copyedit! Copyediting concentrates on the 5 C’s: clarity, coherency, consistency, correctness, and communication. I will review your document for mechanical errors, including spelling, grammar, punctuation, hyphenation, capitalization, tense consistency, sentence structure, treatment of quotations and numbers, and use of initialisms, acronyms, and abbreviations. Copyediting is extremely important; the fastest way to lose a reader’s interest is by ignoring these easily-fixed but often overlooked errors.
Rates start at 2.5 cents per word
Line Editing
Need help finessing what you’re trying to say? In addition to a comprehensive copyedit, I will provide suggestions regarding word choice, fluidity, paragraph spacing, repetition, and logic. I will also suggest alternatives to overused clichés and awkward phrasing.
Rates start at 3.5 cents per word
Proofreading
This is the final step of the editing process to find last-minute errors and ensure quality control. I will expertly review your document and make sure that all edits from previous rounds of copyediting are applied and that the format (including font, text size, charts, graphics, paragraph breaks, headers, and subheads) is consistent and fits design guidelines.
Rates start at 2 cents per word
Manuscript Evaluation
Have you finished your project but still think it needs some work before starting the copyediting phase? Get an outside perspective from a professional editor. I will evaluate your manuscript and provide detailed feedback on character, structure, plot, tone/genre, and other important elements to let you know if your story is working and is ready to be copyedited.
Rates start at 2 cents per word

Developmental Editing for Screenplays
This service is for screenwriters who want detailed feedback on their screenplay, whether it be an original pilot, TV spec script, short film, or feature-length script. I will provide a logline and 3-5 pages of feedback and suggestions regarding the following topics:
Character: Is your protagonist intriguing enough for a reader to want to follow them on their journey? Are there too many characters and some should be combined into one person? Is your protagonist missing an arc? Are your characters multi-dimensional?
Pacing: Does your first act go on too long? Are you missing a middle act? Does the story end abruptly?
Story: Is the story compelling? Is the script a page-turner? Is there enough conflict? Is the character’s goal interesting? Is the story original, or has this idea been done before?
Tone: Does your tone match your subject matter? Are you inserting too many jokes into your historical drama script? Is your slice-of-life dramedy too over-the-top? Is your action movie coming off as a gritty drama? Is your comedy script actually funny?
Dialogue: Is the dialogue too clever by half? Do your characters have their own distinguishable voice? Does the dialogue naturally or awkwardly reveal plot and exposition?
Format: Is the script written in professional screenplay format? Is your TV spec script formatted in the same style as the series’ scripts? Are sluglines clear and written correctly? Are character names capitalized when they are first introduced?

“Not only is [Becky] funny, whip-smart, and fastidious, she’s also reliable, enthusiastic, and bursting with brilliant ideas I wish I had thought of first. No one ever sees my writing without it crossing her desk first. In fact, she’s the reason any of my writing is as fantastic as people think it is.”
